Microsoft Solitaire turns 30 and is clearly not done yet
Microsoft Solitaire, earlier known as Windows Solitaire has turned 30 today and Microsoft is celebrating the occasion by aiming to create a world record of the most Solitaire games played in a single day. According to the company, Microsoft Solitaire is among the most-played games on the planet every day with over 35 million monthly active players and 100 million hands played daily around the world.
The Microsoft Solitaire was earlier debuted by the name of Windows Solitaire with Windows 3.0 in 1990 and was specifically designed for users to help them learn how to use a mouse. The game actually helped people master the drag and drop functionality, which is still among the most used mouse controls on Windows.
Windows Solitaire was a pre-installed game on almost every Windows operating system launched until Windows 8 in 2012 when Microsoft decided to discontinue the game. However, the game received a major revamp in the same year alongside its relaunch as the standalone game via Microsoft Store.
