Microsoft is reportedly working on custom ARM-based chipset to take on Apple M series silicons
Microsoft has been trying to combat Apple M series chips with custom ARM chipset made in partnership with other chip manufacturers. However, it appears that the company is planning to take it up a notch and manufacture in-house chips now. Windows Latest has spotted some job posting that suggests that the company is planning to build its own custom ARM-based chipsets for client devices that would most likely compete with Apple M series silicons
In addition to that, the company is also rumoured to be optimising Windows 12 better for ARM-based silicons. As per the report, the job listings were for custom silicon accelerators, System on Chips (SoCs) and high-performance, high-bandwidth designs.
In one of the job postings, the Microsoft Silicon team was looking for Principal System on Chip Architect with experience in high-performance SOC architecture and CPU and GPU architecture and design.
