Microsoft India revenue hits $1bn for first time

BENGALURU: Microsoft’s revenue in India has crossed $1 billion, with robust growth from cloud and cloud-based services in a market where it competes fiercely with Amazon’s AWS and Google. Microsoft’s revenue rose 13% to Rs 7,301 crore in 2018-19, from Rs 6,455 crore in the year before, according to corporate research firm Tofler. Its net profit rose to Rs 386 crore from Rs 357 crore.
Earlier this year, Microsoft India president Anant Maheshwari said more than half of the company’s revenue in the country comes from cloud and cloud-based services. “In our book of business in India, cloud is no longer a minority. This is the year it is turning out to be a majority. It’s tipping the 50% mark,” Maheshwari had said in an exclusive interaction with TOI.
Microsoft Azure is a comprehensive set of cloud services that offer developers, IT professionals and enterprises the freedom to build, deploy and manage applications on any platform or device.
