Micromax: How genuine is the Rahul Sharma story?

The Rahul Sharma video has gone viral in the last few days. Lots of shares on WhatsApp. With very very divergent views on the man, his mission, and Micromax.

Some years ago, I did a biggish project with Micromax on pre-burn of apps; hence I am reasonably familiar with Rahul Sharma’s company and the brand he built. But, no, I never met Rahul personally, though I did run into one of his co-promoters a couple of times. 5-6 years ago, the Micromax brand had such phenomenal momentum that it was surprising they vapourised so quickly from the market.
