MHRD funds for CAL centres in J&K remain unspent

J&K School Education department has failed to utilise Rs 59 crore funds released by Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) for establishment of Computer Aided Learning (CAL) study centres in the government schools.

Principal Secretary Schoold Education, Asgar Samoon said the funds were released to project directorate of Samagra and transferred to Information Technology (IT) department some six months ago. “But there is no progress in establishment of the CAL centres,” he said.

“The funds were supposed to be utilised for establishment of 224 computer-aided learning labs in the government schools across J&K, however, not a single laboratory has been established so far,” Samoon said.
