MeitY blocks 100+ websites for job frauds

New Delhi: Based on inputs from the Indian Cyber Coordination Centre (I4C), the ministry of electronics and IT (MeitY) has blocked over 100 websites involved in organised investment and task-based, part-time job frauds and which were largely operated by overseas entities.

The proceeds from the large-scale economic frauds done through these websites were seen to be laundered out of India using card network, crypto currency, overseas ATM withdrawals and international Fintech companies, the home ministry said on Wednesday. The websites facilitating task-based or organized illegal investment-related economic crimes, were learnt to be operating by overseas actors and were using digital advertisement, chat messengers and mule or rented accounts.
