MediaTek to infuse $18 bn in next five years to strengthen ‘technology leadership’: CEO Rick Tsai
NEW DELHI: MediaTek is optimistic about closing 2023 with a revenue of $14 billion. The Taiwanese fabless chipmaker also plans to invest $18 billion or more in research and development (R&D) over the next five years to strengthen technology leadership, said its Vice Chairman & CEO Rick Tsai.
“MediaTek has always been committed to technology leadership. So we are putting $18 billion into our existing products, and future products,” Tsai said at the company’s annual event late Thursday.
“We did $7.9 billion (in 2018). This year, it will be about $14 billion. That’s a bit down from last year. But nonetheless, it’s tremendous growth. The growth story for revenue is very important,” he added.
