Maharashtra govt to launch ‘Dial 112’ to help cops respond to emergency situations faster
The Maharashtra government will soon launch ‘Dial 112’ — a project to enable police to reach out immediately to complainants in case of an emergency — across the state. The project, which aims to introduce a single emergency number across the country, will include setting up of state-of-the-art control rooms at all 45 police commissionerates and district police offices across the state.
“The technology-driven project will ensure the response time from police is 10 minutes in urban areas and 15 minutes in rural areas,” Minister of State for Home and Information and Technology Satej Patil announced on Friday after a review meeting.
