MacBooks may come with Face ID on laptops, desktops after Intel processors get replaced with Apple’s Bionic chipset
Facial recognition has been around for a while now, and mostly finds application in unlocking smartphones. The Apple iPhone X became the first Apple device to get Face ID in 2017. However, reports by the tech website 9to5Mac suggest that users will be able to unlock future MacBooks with their face.
The company is supposedly working on incorporating its TrueDepth camera – the tech which makes Face ID possible – in macOS Big Sur. The third beta version of the operating system contains codes supporting “PearlCamera.”
