Lok Sabha elections 2019: Twitter now lets you ‘report’ misleading tweets on voting

NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha elections 2019 is in full throttle these days with different government parties trying to convince billions of Indians why they should vote for them. A part of convincing also includes spreading of fake news, rumours and false claims, which are amplified by several others on social media to manipulate people. And Twitter being one of the platforms where information spreads like fire, is at the forefront of curbing that kind of information. This time it is not regulating the information itself but is giving Twitter users the power to report tweets that can misguide voters.
Twitter says that it will introduce the new ‘reporting’ feature for the Indian Lok Sabha elections starting April 25 (today) followed by EU elections from April 29.
