LG eyes comeback with India-only online series; aims to become key 5G handset player

NEW DELHI: South Korean handset maker LG is hoping to corner double-digit share by end of 2020 in India’s highly competitive smartphone market, driven by its newly conceived ‘India-first’ W series, and it aiming to become a key brand once the fifth-generation or 5G technology hits the market.

“We have faced challenges in the India market, which is why we consciously worked with the headquarters and convinced them to launch India specific portfolio. W series is the first outcome of the project which was kicked off,” Advait Vaidya, Business Head – Mobile Communication, LG India, told ET.
