Landlines get a boost in J&K as shutdown affects mobile networks

CHENNAI: The active mobile subscriber base in Jammu & Kashmir has almost halved from July to September. However, there was an increase in the state’s number of landline connections, which were the only communication link amid the communications clampdown that began in August.
From around 9.9 million active subscribers in July (just before the network shutdown on August 4), the total active subscriber base of the J&K circle stood at 4.9 million in September. The landline subscriber
