Karnataka HC rejects Xiaomi challenge of ED seizure order

In a major blow to Xiaomi India, the Karnataka High Court on Friday rejected the writ petition filed by the smartphone major challenging the constitutional validity of the enforcement directorate order seizing over Rs 5,500 crore of the company.

A single judge bench of Justice M Nagaprasanna dismissed the petition on merits while upholding the maintainability of the petition.

“We are studying the matter and waiting for the written order. We’d like to reiterate that our operations in India are compliant with all local laws and regulations,” a Xiaomi India spokesperson said.
