Jio Emerges Top in Revenue Market Share in June Quarter
Reliance Jio Infocomm has become the country’s No 1 telco by revenue market share (RMS) in the April-June quarter, less than three years since it launched mobile services, while Bharti Airtel has regained its No 2 slot, helped by strong revenue growth in key metro markets, outpacing Vodafone Idea, which lost ground sharply in most markets.
Mukesh Ambani-owned Jio reported a modest 15 basis points (bps) sequential growth in the June quarter to reach an RMS of 31.7%, while Bharti Airtel gained 277 bps on-quarter for a 30% RMS, bouncing back from the steep fall in the previous quarter due to one-time bad debt write-offs linked to interconnect usage charges from operators, financial data collated by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) showed.
