Jio adds most active mobile users in March

Kolkata: Reliance Jio added the most number of active mobile phone users in March 2021, bucking a trend of losing to the Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel for three straight months. Analysts said Jio’s gains reflected strong consumer uptake of its recent offers around the 4G feature phone—JioPhone—and aggressive channel management to grab users through the portability route.

Jio added 7.3 million active users in March, taking its active user share to 33.4% and its active user base to 332 million. By comparison, Airtel added 4.8 million active mobile users in the month, taking its overall active base to a market leading 344 million and its active user share at 34.6%, an analysis of latest subscriber data put out by the telecom regulator showed.
