Jio adds 3.28 mn mobile users in August, pips BSNL to become top landline operator
Reliance Jio Infocomm added a whopping 3.28 million mobile users in August, boosting its customer base to 419.24 million, indicating strong 4G user gains and that its prolonged clean-up of low value users is over, latest subscriber data collated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) showed.
By comparison, Bharti Airtel added a modest 0.32 million mobile users, taking its total wireless customer base to 363.80 million, while loss-making Vodafone Idea continued to lose mobile users. Cash-strapped Vi lost over 1.95 million mobile users in August, shrinking its user base further to 253.14 million, reflecting its continuing struggles on the 4G operations front.
