Issue of pending MSO registrations under consideration: MIB

The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has informed multi system operator (MSO) licence applicants that the issue of pending MSO registration is under consideration.

The ministry conducts monthly open house meeting with applicant MSOs/existing MSOs on 20th of every month from 11 am to 12 pm in the ministry to answer their queries and to convey the status of their application.

The 36th open house meeting for the month of May was held on 21 May in the digital addressable system (DAS) Section.

The meeting was attended by representatives of TCN Enterprises, Sangani Den Network, Pi Network, Priyadarshani Cable, Shri Varshitha Cable, Shree Cable Network, Deoguling Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society, AlokBindu Cable & Broadband Welfare Association, and Blast Digital.

The representatives of Pi Network, Priyadarshani Cable, Shri Varshitha Cable, Shree Cable Network, Deoguling Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society, Alok Bindu Cable & Broadband Welfare Association and Blast Digital were that issue of pending applications for MSO registration is under consideration.

The applicant MSOs sought to know the status of their applications submitted to the ministry for grant of MSO registration.

The representative of TCN Enterprises had issues relating to interconnect agreement with broadcasters. He informed that he will submit his representation to the ministry so that the matter may be taken with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

The representative of Sangani Den Network requested the ministry to reopen his case and grant him MSO registration. The ministry had closed his application for MSOs registration due to non-submission of documents.

The ministry requested the company to submit representation with valid documentary proof for further consideration.

As on 31 October 2017, the ministry had granted regular registrations to 1469 MSOs to operate anywhere in India. Two MSOs, Arasu Cable TV Corporation, and Godfather Communication have been granted provisional registrations. The registration of 66 MSOs has been cancelled/closed.
