“Is Facebook down or is it just me?” – Users decry company’s biggest outage that still remains

Facebook was hit one of the monumental outages late night on Wednesday. Users from all over the world began reporting the unavailability of certain features on Facebook, such as posting on a page, updating Stories, and more. The social media company swiftly acknowledged the gaffe its platform began facing in India and other countries. However, even though more than 18 hours have passed, Facebook still seems to be down for a large fraction of users worldwide.

The last statement by Facebook, posted on Twitter and elsewhere, confirmed the outage that nearly affected billions of users in many parts of the world. Facebook has not confirmed what caused the temporary close-down of the services but some reports suggest a DDoS attack behind it. Although the company has denied the disruption was an outcome of a potential attack, it is one of the most intensive ones Facebook has seen in recent times.
