iPhone users, these websites have been quietly hacking your devices for years, claims Google

Google has a special security research team called Project Zero. Earlier this year, Google’s Project Zero team had revealed that there were certain bugs in the iPhone. Now the same team has said that for years certain websites had been ‘hacking’ iPhones.
In a blog post, Google’s security research team explained that “There was no target discrimination; simply visiting the hacked site was enough for the exploit server to attack your device, and if it was successful, install a monitoring implant. We estimate that these sites receive thousands of visitors per week.”
According to a report by Vice, some of the hacks made use of something called “zero day exploits”. A zero-day exploit is when hackers can take advantage of the fact that the company which has been targeted isn’t aware of the hacks. Zero day attacks are reportedly more effective from hackers’ perspective as the vulnerabilities aren’t really fixed by the company.
