iPhone 12: ‘made’ in Korea, Japan, US and others

“Designed in California, Assembled in China” is what’s written on every box of the iPhone. Have you wondered where do the internal parts of the iPhone come from? A teardown of the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro done by Nikkei has revealed where do the internal components come from.
The report reveals that South Korea provides 26.8% of the components that are found in the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. This is primarily because the display used in both iPhones are provided by Samsung Display and LG display — two South Korean giants. The memory chips found in the new iPhones are also provided by Samsung.
The cameras found in the iPhone 12 series use sensors provided by Sony. Japanese components constitute around 13.6% of the parts found in the iPhone 12, as per Nikkei, that did the teardown in association with Fomalhaut Techno Solutions. “For noise control and circuit protection, many passive components, including some as small as the tip of a ballpoint pen, are used in the iPhone,” states the report. These too are provided by technology that comes from Japanese companies, according to Nikkei.
