iOS 13 code suggests Apple is working on an AR headset
NEW DELHI: Apple is widely expected to launch three new iPhones this year along with a Watch, affordable HomePod, iPad Pro and 16-inch MacBook laptop. But it looks like by next year it may introduce a completely new line of products – AR headset. What gives this piece of information away is that some hints of it have been discovered in the iOS 13 code. The company has been rumoured to be working on its own AR headset or glasses since quite some time and now the launch seems to be coming close. This is in contrast to a recent report by Digitimes mentioning that this project has been suspended.
As reported by Macrumours, the internal builds of iOS 13 is called as ‘STARTester’ app that can switch in and out of the headset mode to give users the augmented reality experience on an iPhone for testing. Also mentioned in the code are the two head-mounted modes for testing – ‘worn’ and ‘held’.
