Intel exits this business post Apple-Qualcomm deal, what it means for you and more
Until the past couple of months, rumours making round on the web indicated that Apple is banking on Intel for 5G modem chips for future iPhone handsets. More recently it was reported that Intel was running behind schedule and Apple was considering tapping on the shoulders of other OEMs such as Samsung, Huawei and even MediaTek. Qualcomm was out of the question because of the long-running licencing battle between the two companies. However, the entire game changed in the last few 12 hours. Intel exits the 5G game
Just hours after Apple-Qualcomm deal, chip giant Intel announced its exit from 5G smartphone modem business. The news came directly from the company’s newsroom. However, it has been made clear that Intel is exiting the 5G smartphone business. The company, however, said that it remains in the 5G game for PCs and other IoT devices. The company will also continue to invest in its 5G network infrastructure business.
