Instagram users may soon send direct messages using desktop web

hoto-sharing app Instagram is reportedly testing direct message feature for its web users. The new feature will enable Instagram users to share photos and videos, send messages and emojis to their friends via any desktop or laptop.
It was first spotted by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong who shared screenshots of the upcoming feature on Twitter. The current desktop version supports limited actions like showing the news feed. Infact, there is no way to directly upload the photos or stories either. Browser notification support was added only recently. The introduction of direct message feature will be a step forward in engaging more customers through desktop.
