Instagram to no longer tell you how good or bad the photo you posted is, here’s why
If you cannot see the number of likes on Instagram posts in your feed, then don’t assume it is bug as the company has extended its “private like count” globally. What this means is that some users — irrespective of the region — will not be able to see the total number of likes and views on photos and videos posted by other Instagram users. However, you will continue to see the same for your Instagram posts.
Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, confirmed the change via Twitter and said that it is being done to see “how people feel about using our platform, particularly young people.”
Replying to a user who asked who they’d determine if this was a success or not Mosseri said that it would be “sentiment measures (surveys) around how people feel about their time on the platform and this change more specifically.”
