Instagram Lite introduced in India with 2MB download size
NEW DELHI : Instagram Lite was removed from the Google Play Store earlier this year. Now the social media platform is re-introducing a new version of the app. The new version of the application is being tested in India before the official roll-out in other countries. The Lite version of the app will be lacking some of the more recent additions such as Reels, Shopping and even IGTV.
The new version of the Instagram Lite application lives up to its title as the app is just 2MB in size. Instagram claims the application is “fast, reliable and responsive.” The application will be made available in multiple regional languages such as Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
The new version of Instagram was announced during the Facebook Fuel event for India. Facebook also revealed multiple other projects that the company is working on for Indian. The company also revealed a ‘Born on Instagram’ program where the platform will provide content creators with better monetization opportunities. The platform will also provide options for creators to collaborate with each other.
