Instagram is worried about TikTok, here’s why
Last month, Facebook took an unprecedented step of making a question and answer session between CEO Mark Zuckerberg and employees public. Zuckerberg during the session was asked about the rise of TikTok and the challenge Facebook faced from the Chinese rival. Zuckerberg acknowledged the ‘threat’ and now Instagram has launched a feature that seems to be heavily inspired by TikTok. As per a report by TechCrunch, Instagram has rolled out a feature called Reels.
The report further reveals that Instagram Reels will allow users to make 15-second clips which are set to music — just like TikTok. Users can then share these Reels as part of Instagram Stories with their followers and friends. Like it is the case with TikTok, users will get a catalog of music to soundtrack their reels. They will also have the option to borrow audio from “from anyone’s else video to create a remix of their meme or joke,” added the report from TechCrunch.
Reels has been launched as of now in Brazil and will be available on both iOS and Android.
