Instagram has a ‘porn problem’ and it refuses to go away

Instagram is one of the most popular apps used by people across the world. And like any other social media platform, it has millions – 150 million to be precise – fake accounts. According to a report by Engadget, the social media’s ‘porn problem’ refuses to go away. It cites a report by Tenable, a cybersecurity firm, that has revealed that the ‘porn bots’ are the platform’s big problem now. The report notes, “As long as Instagram has such a high volume of active users, it will continue to be a haven for porn bot scammers.”
The report further adds that porn bots use a lot of “pop culture reference to try to make it harder for Instagram to distinguish between them and an authentic user.” These “porn bots”, according to Tenable, have been around since 2016.
