Infosys sets up tech unit for Daimler in Stuttgart, Germany

Infosys NSE 2.02 % said it has opened an automotive digital technology and innovation centre in Stuttgart, Germany for its main client Daimler AG to help drive the German automaker’s push towards electric vehicles.

Dr.-Ing. Jörg Sommer, formerly Director of Digital Foundation at Daimler has been designated as the CEO of the unit, which is a separate legal entity and called Infosys Automotive and Mobility GmbH & Co. KG. Automotive IT infrastructure experts of Daimler in Germany will be absorbed into this unit, Infosys said without disclosing specifics.

The unit is being set up as part of its multi-billion-dollar transformation deal that it won from the German automaker last year. The Stuttgart unit of Infosys will focus on artificial intelligence, automation and electrification of automobiles.
