Industry has divergent views on space spectrum auction; need to find a balanced approach: IN-SPACe chairman Pawan Goenka

Pawan Goenka, chairman of India’s space industry regulator, has agreed with the concerns of the satcoms industry while concurring that no country has allocated spectrum resources for space-based communications through the auction route.

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) boss told ET the terrestrial (telecom) sector held a divergent view and that he had already spoken to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) secretary and the Trai chairman on the need to take a balanced view and create “a win-win situation” for both sides.
