India’s 5G rollout fastest globally: Neeraj Mittal

NEW DELHI: India’s 5G rollout, led by domestic telecom companies, has been one of the fastest globally, covering over 100 million consumers in a year, and the world is now looking towards the country for 6G technology, Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) said on Monday.

“India has leapfrogged in several technologies including creation of digital public infrastructure. Our 5G rollout led by our domestic companies has been one of the fastest in the world, covering roughly over 100 million consumers in a year and the world is already looking towards India for 6G technology,” Mittal said at an industry event organised by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) and DoT.
