Indian telcos will not be allowed to place 5G orders with Chinese gear cos: Report

NEW DELHI: Indian telecom operators will not be allowed to place 5G network orders with Chinese gear makers Huawei and ZTE, Financial Express reported citing officials aware of the development.

Telcos though may be allowed to place 4G network upgrade orders on a case-by-case basis with the abovementioned Chinese firms, the report said, adding that except Reliance Jio, the 4G network of other telcos have been built by these Chinese companies.
