Indian techies, your American Dream has Apple CEO Tim Cook’s support . The Apple CEO has asked for the passing of Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act, which favours removal of cap on green cards in the US.
“Immigrants make this country stronger and our economy more dynamic. As a first step toward needed comprehensive reform, I urge the Senate to move quickly to pass the Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act. The contributions of these workers are critical to America’s future,” said Cook in a tweet.
The High-Skilled Immigrants Act calls to eliminate the current 7% annual per-country limitation on the number of green cards in the US. The US House of Representatives passed the Act in July this year, however, the Senate has so far blocked the bill. The passage of the bill is likely to help Indian and Chinese nationals receive green cards faster, many of whom are stuck in 10-20 year wait cycles.
