Indian smartphone users are willing to pay over 66% premium for 5G services: Ericsson

NEW DELHI: Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson said that Indian smartphone users are willing to pay more than 66 percent premium for 5G services, while more than half of smartphone users surveyed in India expect their own provider to switch to 5G.

The LTE subscriptions in India are expected to grow at a CAGR of 17 percent from 450 million in 2018 to 1.16 Billion in 2024, while video will continue to drive data usage and we see monthly data usage per smartphone increasing from 9.8 GB in 2018 to 18 GB by 2024 growing at 11 percent CAGR, Ericsson said in its mobility report.
