Indian cricket’s media rights sale amount drops amid headwinds, Disney Star’s losses from these games: Sources

The Board of Control for Cricket in India likely sold the media rights for Indian cricket team’s home matches at a lower price than in previous auction, as industry sources flagged various headwinds related to the matches that may make them a less attractive property to sell.

Reliance-owned Viacom18 has won BCCI media rights for Rs 67.8 crore per match, outbidding Sony Pictures Networks India and Disney Star, ET reported citing sources. The total value of the deal is Rs 5,966 crore, sources added.
