India sees 97% rise in cyber extortion victims in 2023: Orange Cyberdefense report

NEW DELHI: India has seen a 97% year-over-year rise in cyber extortion victims this year, followed by Oceania (73%), and Africa (70%), according to a report released Thursday by Orange Cyberdefense, the cybersecurity arm of French telecom operator Orange S.A.
It noted that “large, English-speaking economies” continue to account for the highest numbers of victims, with over half (53%) headquartered in the United States, followed by the United Kingdom (2nd, 6%) and Canada (3rd, 5%).
