India may get framework for regulation of AI, says Digital India CEO

Digital India Corporation’s MD and CEO, Abhishek Singh, has said that India needs to have its own framework on Artificial Intelligence (AI). He said that while many countries have legislative interventions, there is no law in India to regulate AI and the company is “thinking in this direction”.

“As and when the Digital India Act is passed, there would be provisions for enforcing guidelines,” news agency PTI cited Singh as saying.

Digital India Corporation is a not for profit company set up by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Earlier, the company was known as ‘Media Lab Asia’, and was renamed as ‘Digital India Corporation’ with effect from September 8.
