India has cleared all consignments, says Foxconn
NEW DELHI: The Indian government has cleared all consignments of electronics contract manufacturer Foxconn stuck at ports and airports after a delay of almost ten days following a security alert that was triggered pan-India.
“Foxconn has followed all procedures related to customs clearance in India, in accordance with the local laws and regulations, and we can confirm that all shipments to India have been processed,” the company’s parent Hon Hai Precision Industry said in an exchange filing to the Taipei Stock Exchange.
The government had begun 100% manual checks of all Chinese consignments last week and gave selective approvals to non-Chinese companies such as Samsung, Apple, Dell, Cisco, HP etc. Taiwanese Foxconn, which manufactures smartphones for China-based brand Xiaomi in its dedicated facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, had not received approval.
