IN-SPACe authorises Bharti-backed OneWeb India to launch satellite broadband service

NEW DELHI: OneWeb India, a subsidiary of Eutelsat Group and backed by India’s telecom giantBharti Group, on Tuesday received necessary authorisations from space regulator Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) to launch commercial satellite broadband services in India. With the approval, OneWeb India has become the first company in India to get the approvals for satellite broadband services.

However, till the timesatellite spectrum is allotted to the company, it can’t launch its services.

In a post on X, Eutelsat OneWeb stated, “We have received the necessary authorisations from INSPACe India to launch commercial satellite broadband services in India.
