NEW DELHI: Sub-brands in the Indian smartphone market are not new. During the last seven-eight years, the market saw the emergence and exit of various sub-brands. Handset companies tried to create differentiation to cater to diverse audiences looking for very different things from their phones, and one critical part of this strategy resulted in the emergence of sub-brands.
