Idea 4G now available in 100 Kerala towns, deploys 2500 sites

Idea Cellular, India’s third largest telco, said that it has expanded its 4G LTE service to over 90 more towns of Kerala circle, taking the total tally to over 100, which covers 53% of the total population in the region, across all 14 districts.

The telco has deployed a total 2,500 4G sites in the region, and it said that the network expansion will continue as more and more users join the Idea 4G LTE family.

In 45 out these over 100 towns, Idea said that it has also become the sole operator to provide 4G LTE services.

Idea’s 4G LTE service is available in the major towns of Alleppey, Kasarkod, Kalpetta, Kayamkulam, Nilambur, Perinthalmanna, Thalasseri, and Vadakara.

“As a part of aggressive roll out of Idea’s 4G LTE service, our focus has remained on providing our customers with world class mobile broadband experience coupled with superior service delivery. With better consumer offers and affordable tariff plans, we aim to provide the best-in-class experience to our subscribers in the region,” Vinu Verghese, Chief Operating Officer – Kerala, Idea Cellular, said in a statement.

Idea is offering all existing customers a free-of-cost upgrade to a 4G SIM, available across all 700 Idea showrooms in Kerala. Once upgraded, customers can also avail 1 GB of free 4G data by simply sending an SMS ‘GO4G’ to 12345.

Further facilitating this transition process, Idea has launched a toll-free number 12149 that gives customers the precise location of the nearest Idea showroom via SMS.
