ICICI Securities warns that Jio will be hurt if it does not bag RCom’s spectrum

Kolkata: Reliance Jio Infocomm (Jio) will be hit if spectrum assets of Reliance Communications (RCom) are bought by another company, ICICI Securities in a note.

“If RJIO lose access to 850MHz spectrum, then it will not be able offer L-800 in seven circles. It is critical for good voice service, and in-door 4G coverage,” said the brokerage.

The brokerage firm’s warning comes on the back of asset reconstruction company UVARCL being selected by RCom’s committee of creditors (CoC) as the top bidder for RCom and Reliance Telecom’s assets which mainly include –spectrum and data centres.

According to some, UVARCL though is expected to sell the RCom spectrum assets at a later stage and Jio could be one of the buyers.
