I was brought in to transform, take tough decisions: Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte

On May 25, Wipro, which is India’s fourth largest software services firm, told the US Securities and Exchange Commission that its Executive Chairman Rishad Premji’s annual compensation halved for the financial year 2022-23 due to incremental profits being negative for the year. Chief executive Thierry Delaporte’s compensation also fell by 5%. The company has its American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) listed on the Nasdaq.

Amid the pandemic in June 2020, the company had appointed former Capgemini COO Delaporte as its CEO with a mandate to “transform and take tough decisions.” The 56-year-old has led an aggressive acquisition strategy that has seen Wipro acquire a dozen companies, shelling out about over $ 2.3 billion in the last three years.
