Hughes India picked by Nayara Energy to deploy, manage satellite network for retail outlets

NEW DELHI: Hughes India, a majority-owned subsidiary of Hughes Network Systems LLC, Wednesday said it has been selected by private-sector oil retailer, Nayara Energy, to install, integrate and manage a satellite network solution across 3,500 of its retail outlets.

As part of the five-year partnership, Hughes India will deploy its software-defined satellite solution–HughesON which will use the Jupiter System, the “de-facto standard” for satellite implementations worldwide, with routers, gateways, and a network management system, as per an official statement.

The upgraded network will leverage the capacity on the GSAT-16 and SES-9 satellites for data transmissions such as delivering daily price updates to remote petrol pumps, fuel tank monitoring, and the implementation of a customer loyalty program.
