Huawei’s local 5G licensing to boost Make in India ambition
NEW DELHI: Chinese gear maker Huawei’s 5G license offer to a United States-based company, in the wake of heightened scrutiny should be replicated in India to facilitate Make in India, and that could enable homegrown companies to compete with the likes of multinationals such as Nokia, Ericsson, ZTE and Samsung.
“Huawei should make a similar offer (local licensing) to India. It will help Indian companies in stepping up gear production, as a part of Make in India initiative, and they can compete with European firms like Nokia and Ericsson, and Samsung and ZTE.” Sandeep Aggarwal, co-chairman of the Telecom Exports Promotion Council (Tepc) told ETT.
