Huawei’s Honor starts job cuts at India operations
New Delhi: Chinese handset maker Honor is scaling down its India operations and asking employees to resign across functions in a phased manner, a fallout of rapidly falling demand for its devices after parent Huawei was added to an “entity list” of companies barred from receiving US-made hardware and software components without permission from the American government.
A person aware of the matter told ET on condition of anonymity that Huawei has initiated the first phase of downsizing. “They say that operations are being scaled down and services of those employees are no longer required,” the person said. “There is downsizing due to a drop in sales.”
He said that those impacted comprise employees on the company’s roll as well as those who are not on its roll.
