Huawei may scale down R&D in India amid govt scrutiny, affecting most of 3,500 jobs: Report

NEW DELHI: Chinese telecom gear maker Huawei is considering scaling down its research and development (R&D) operations in India which could affect a majority of the 3,500 jobs the company has created over the last two decades, The Hindu reported.

The company is as much considering shutting down parts of the operations at its R&D facility campus just outside of Bengaluru, the report added.

This comes amidst heightened scrutiny by the government from the perspective of national security, as well as, income tax raids, audits, and the issuance of a lookout circular (LOC) again Li Xiongwei, the chief executive of Huawei Telecommunication India, which he has appealed, according to the report.
