Huawei gains, Xiaomi loses in global smartphone market: Report

The global smartphone shipments have increased 0.8% year-over-year in third quarter of 2019, reversing the seven quarters of decline, claims IDC in its latest Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker report. Overall, the global shipments of smartphones reached 358.3 million during the quarter, which was up 8.1% from the previous quarter.
As per the report, India led emerging markets growth. The top five OEMs for this quarter accounted for more than 70% of the world’s smartphone shipments for the first time ever this quarter.
The latest IDC report claims that Samsung secured top position registering annual growth of 8.3% with 78.2 million smartphones shipments. At the end of this quarter, Samsung has secured a 21.8% market share. The growth of Samsung is being attributed to “The Galaxy Note 10 launch in August and increased A series volumes.
