Huawei confident of getting new business from Airtel, Vodafone Idea: India CEO David Li
The Indian government should offer Huawei a level playing field and clear the uncertainty regarding the company’s participation in the 5G trials and deployment, new CEO David Li said. Speaking to ET’s Danish Khan and Romit Guha in his first media interview since taking over last May, Li said Huawei is willing to partner with Indian vendors for 5G equipment manufacturing, to assuage any security concerns that India may have. He added the company is also open to setting up a test lab in India, but only if other players are asked to do so as well. Edited excerpts:
Can you talk about the road ahead for Huawei, given the existing challenges?
So, the last year 2020 is one of the most challenging years for Huawei India in our 20 years journey. The industry also is downtown because of COVID and geopolitics scenes. But, we managed to keep our business on track. For last year, our business met its target as per the plan.
