How this new rivalry may emerge between Google, Apple and Microsoft

While we are used to seeing cutthroat competition in the smartphone market, the PC market — in comparison — is relatively less intense. But if a new report by Canalys is to be believed, it may soon change and we may see major rivalry in the PC market as compared to “it has been in a long time.”

The report by Canalys claims that Google’s Chromebooks has outperformed the rest of the industry product categories, posting 75% annual growth and a shipment volume of 11.9 million units in Q2 2021.

All Chromebook vendors have doubled down theft investments as they have been witnessing strong returns.

“The success of Chromebooks is proving to be remarkably resilient,” said Brian Lynch, research analyst at Canalys.
