How Google, Apple want to use your phone to track possbile coronavirus patients

World’s two biggest tech companies–Apple and Google–have partnered together to fight the spread of coronavirus disease. In a joint effort, both the companies will be creating a coronavirus tracking system, via contact tracing, right into iOS and Android operating systems. For contact tracing to ideally work, the entire population needs to be on the same grid or have the same app, at least. As the majority of smartphone users are either using an iPhone or an Android phone, it is crucial for both Apple and Google to work together to create an effective contact tracing solution.
In India, the government had launched a similar contact tracing app called Aarogya Setu, for both iOS and Android, last week. The app uses a social graph to simply trace contacts with phone numbers and location history to identify whether someone is at a low-risk or high-risk to testing positive for COVID-19.
